No One Dies for My Sins!

I was having coffee with a friend at the Hard Times Café on the West Bank of the U of M the other day. I went to the men’s restroom and as I stood there relieving myself I was taken back by these words scrawled on the wall behind the toilet: “No one dies for my sins”.

What did the author mean by these brazen words: “I have no sins for someone to die for” or “No thanks, I will die for my own sins” or “I do not accept the violence of someone having to die for me” or something else?

I was trying to share the gospel recently with a man from Vietnam who grew up as a Buddhist. As I stumbled through the gospel I realized how incredibly weird it must sound to him that some guy named Jesus died on the cross for his sins 2,000 years ago. It is a weird strange story...but it's true! Jesus, the Son of God, did die for my sins and the sins of the world. He was God in the flesh, perfect man, perfect God.

Jesus' death on the cross for the sins of the world might not make sense, but does it have to make sense? Does love make sense? Does hope make sense? Does peace make sense? Does life make sense? Do you only accept things that can be scientifically proven in a laboratory? No!! Life is filled with mystery! The cross of Jesus is a mystery, but it is true and believing it has made all the difference in my life.

"No one dies for my sins!" Yes He did! He won’t force you to believe it, but Jesus did die for your sins! Romans 5:8 says, ‘But God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us” I have discovered that living in this truth moment by moment of each day brings hope, peace, love and forgiveness into my life. Thanks Jesus for dying for MY sins!
