Does God really care about my….refrigerator?

What…you ask? Does God really care about your…refrigerator? What are you talking about? Well, it’s actually the church refrigerator. God showed me today that He is concerned and involved in even the small and mundane things of life.
I came to church this morning and Barb, our church executive administrator, told me that our church refrigerator was broken. I went into the kitchen to look and sure enough…it was broken…it was even beginning to stink a bit and get nasty! Eeeuuu! Worst of all…the 6 boxes of Costco pizza left over from our mega youth rock concert from Friday night were about to spoil and we were approaching crisis mode ! Then God intervened.
A young man from our church just happened to be in our parking lot loading his old “beer refrigerator” into our church van to throw it away. I was driving away when God told me,”Dave…go back and ask if you can have that frig”. It wasn’t an audible voice, but it was a strong impression from God. So…you already know the ending. I asked him for it and he happily offered to give it to the church and we immediately hauled it in and set it up, minus the beer. It works like a charm! The 6 boxes of left over pizza were rescued and were eaten Wednesday night by hungry youth.
So…does God really care about my refrigerator? I guess so! Proverbs 5:21 reads, “For a man’s ways are before the eyes of the Lord, and he ponders all his paths.” It’s weird that God would intervene in such a mundane thing as to provide our church with a new frig just in the nick of time…but I’m glad He did. It gives me the faith to believe Him for even bigger things!
